Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
So much has happened in our world since the last newsletter was posted. I hope you find some
peace and purpose in our Spring issue of the PW Presbytery of the Palisades newsletter “THE
PATTER.” Everyday there are new concerns and prayers that need to be addressed. We
simply cannot tackle all these issues without God and one another. Scripture tells us “Do
not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your
requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard
your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”.—Philippians 4:6–7, (NRSV)
After almost a year in the Pandemic I think we all have learned the need to take all that is
happening very seriously wearing our masks, maintaining social distance, and avoiding crowds.
We have learned to take precautions to keep safe and healthy, not only for ourselves but for
others at the same time. Jesus emphasized to love our neighbors. We are now learning to
be people committed to “do what is right” by considering the welfare of others to be as
important as our own. Thank God for everyone who is living out God’s command to love
neighbors, especially during this pandemic. Do not worry about anything, but in prayer and
supplication with thanksgiving to God.
We see families, being pulled together like never before, able to spend quality time never
thought was possible. Jobs, projects and pastimes are being accomplished that we did not have
time for in our busy lives. Many of you may not have been able to attend church as often as you
wished, but now are able to attend many virtual worship services of your choice, every day, on
our own time. Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in
Christ Jesus.
If you would like to share this issue of ‘The Patter’ with friends please pass it on, and
encourage them to forward it also. There are many churches in our Presbytery that do not
have a circle or bible study. There are many women who want to have purpose in their lives –
and ‘The Patter’ may steer them in a worthwhile direction. If your church is already taking some
action in Missions or whatever project, to feed the hungry or help in the latest disaster, we want
to hear about it. Your creativity may be someone else’s inspiration. At present we do not know
the future of ‘The Patter’ because of the merger of Presbyteries. If in fact at our virtual CT
meeting, we decide to do one more issue by September 1st. You can send photos and a written
article to my email address dvnafash@gmail.com The deadline will be AUGUST 1st, 2021. If not,
we will keep you posted.
I would be remiss if I did not thank the lovely members of our coordinating team for all their
participation in making this worthy newsletter come to fruition. Special thanks to Adina, Sophie,
Katie, Deborah, Marion, and our distributor, the Presbytery of the Palisades.
