SPRING GATHERING
PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN OF NEWTON PRESBYTERY
The Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township
240 Southern Blvd • Chatham, NJ 07928
APRIL 23, 2016
Registration 9am
SPEAKER IS REV. EILEEN LINDNER
(many of us know her from Synod Gatherings – she is terrific)
PW is taking a leadership role in supporting PCUSA’s “Educate a Child…Transform the World” initiative. To hear firsthand how and why PW can participate in this, come and hear the Reverend Dr. Eileen W. Lindner, a consultant to this initiative. “The idea is that educational for our children and advocacy for our schools and teachers is an intervention in the systems of poverty, inequality, and racial injustice.” These are all things PW has always stood for. Can we make plans to stand up for and support low income children/schools in our neighborhoods? Please get your teachers (both school and church), mission committee, and pastor to ATTEND.
At the Gathering, we will probably be writing letters to Congress to let them know that we want progress made against hunger. The 2016 Offering of Letters: Survive and Thrive , an initiative of Bread for the World will focus on the nutrition and health of mothers and children. We are asking Congress to support robust funding in this year’s appropriations bill for nutrition and health for mothers, newborns, and young children.
There will be a business meeting with election of Coordinating Team
members, and presentation of the budget. We are working on having a
speaker who works with children, as well. Worship after lunch.
PLEASE BRING $5 FOR LUNCH – AND RSVP TO JANE MACDONALD
