The LIGHTHOUSE special June 2024 Issue & messages from the Moderator

Greetings PWSNE Sisters ~~
SUMMER IS HERE!  Gardens are planted.  The birds are singing beautifully.  The flowers are coming out as their life cycles.  And for us in NY, next week the school children begin their summer vacations.  Of course, the mosquitos are letting us know that this is their time to visit us, too.
Today, I received a note from Churchwide regarding the Churchwide Gathering.  The registration deadline is July 7 and that includes the Synod Luncheon. “  So, if you have not registered, please do not wait!  If anyone is having trouble registering, contact Carol Winkler at winksmama@gmail.com or (859) 991-5079.  This is part of the contract with the Hotel to have the numbers attending.  If you might be needing a scholarship, contact Sharon Guthrie (sharon.guthrie28@gmail.com), PWSNE Finance Chair.
In Christ’s Service,
Virginia Champlin, PWSNE Moderator 2023-2026

Happy Juneteenth!

“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, because you know that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.”

—1 Corinthians 15:57–58 (NRSV)

The PW Purpose guides us “to build an inclusive caring community of women.” That’s why Presbyterian Women has made a commitment to racial equity. PW groups actively seek to build and live into God’s beloved community, where everyone’s gifts are valued and difference is appreciated.

On Juneteenth and all days, let us rejoice, remember and respond in faithful ways to care for and free all God’s people.
